Legs #2 - German Volume Training
Now, German Volume Training is something that can be done for any body part, but we find it particularly effective when done for legs. It's a program that essentially will work with any multi-joint exercise.
Here's essentially how it works:
- Perform a multi-joint exercise for 10 reps close to failure
- Rest for 90 seconds
- Do the same set with the same weight and the same reps
- Do this for a total of 10 sets of 10 reps
Anytime you do legs, we feel it's a good idea to start off with leg extensions which are a safe way to get the joints warmed up before using them to lift heavier weights when you squat.
So here's the GVT workout we like for legs:
Exercise | Sets | Reps |
Leg Extension | 3 | 16 |
Squat | 10 | 10 |
Remember to warm up for at least 5 minutes prior to the workout and cool down for about the same period of time.
