10 Things That May Be Preventing Your Results
It’s not just about trying hard. It’s also about being smart about your fitness plan to achieve your goals and see results. Here are some of the things that are commonly overlooked by people and impact their ability to be successful.
1. Nutrition
You can work your tail off, but if you don’t have your eating habits in order, chances are you won’t get the results you’re looking for.
2. Not working hard enough
Working out is work. You need to push yourself physically outside of your comfort level. Too many people don’t work hard enough at the gym but simply go through the motions.
3. Not eating enough
No matter if you’re looking to gain weight or lose weight, you need to ensure you eat enough meals during the day to keep your metabolism chugging along. Just be sure to eat the right things based on your goals.
4. Not eating the right food at the right time
This includes your pre-workout meal, your post-workout meal, your pre-bedtime meal, etc.
5. Too much sugar
Sugar is the one ingredient that people seems to overlook which is found in what many people would consider ‘healthy’ foods. Be sure to read the labels and do your research.
6. Not switching up your workouts
Who was it that said that insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and getting the same results? Well, they were right and the same holds true for working out.
7. Not lifting heavy enough
This can go back to number two, but people specifically don’t lift enough weight. Doing 15 reps comfortably won’t break down your muscle enough to get the results based on the time you’re investing at the gym. Try and get down to 5 to 8 reps where you struggle that last rep.
8. Not drinking enough water
Staying hydrated is important. It can help keep your metabolism fast, suppress your appetite and help you perform better.
9. Not getting enough rest
The three pillars of a great fitness plan are nutrition, exercise and rest. Many people tend to overlook the third point. You need to give your body time to recover and if you don’t, it will impact your results.
10. Not warming up/cooling down
If you want to get results, your body needs to perform optimally during your workouts, and that includes not getting injured. Warming up and cooling down will help with both of these factors.
